National Garden Week
The first week of June each year is observed as National Garden Week. A proclamation is issued by National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC) and garden clubs across the country celebrate the week in a wide variety of ways in order to promote the NGC objectives of beautification, education of environmental efforts, gardening, and to demonstrate the involvement of garden clubs in their local communities.
Wellington Garden Club members began National Garden Week 2020 by creating floral arrangements that were distributed to Wellington’s first responders at four fire stations and two hospitals, as well as to Wellington’s municipal offices and library. Several days later, members gathered in Wellington’s Foresteria Park to plant a Gumbo Limbo tree in celebration of National Garden Week and NGC’s Plant America with Trees Project.
