Ikebana, The Art of Japanese Flower Arrangement

Kathy Jones


Kathy Jones is the Co-President of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society of South Florida. She will be demonstrating the fascinating art of Japanese Flower Arrangement. In 1988 Kathy was sponsored by the Florida Cultural Education Department to participate in a year long study program under Atsuko Lefcourte from Kyoto, Japan who was assigned to create and develop Ikebana chapters in the Greater New York area before moving to Florida. Kathy has served as an officer of the Ikebana South Florida Chapter since 1990 and has hosted the Headmaster from Japan. In 2008 she attended an intensive week long study tour in Kyoto, Japan and has since organized and particpated in several chapter symposiums, achieved Special Teacher Membership status, conducted workshops, programs and demonstrations for sister chapters, Ikebana International, International Orchid Show, garden clubs and other organizations. She currently teaches classes at the Morikami Museum in Delray Beach and Temple Emanu-el of Palm Beach.
